Athletic Eligibility Packets

In order for students to try out for a sport they must complete an Athletic Eligibility Packet. These packets can be downloaded and printed from the IMS Interscholastic webpage or picked up in the main office. Please see the school’s summer hours before coming to campus.
Athletic Eligibility Packets can ONLY be turned into the Athletic Director at the designated times.  The first chance to turn packets in will be during the Grade Level Orientations before school starts (see the IMS webpage for dates and times of orientation).
And as always they can be turned in during the school day, but only to the Athletic Director. Incomplete packets will not be accepted. Everything needs to be filled out exactly as it is required.
General school physicals are NOT a substitute for the physical that is within the packet (EL2 Forms). The physical in the packet must be filled out completely and signed by the doctor’s office.
The first sports in the fall are Baseball and Softball which start the 1st or 2nd week of school, so you will need to complete the packet before school starts so they are ready to turn in. However, you can turn your packet in for other sports as well during the designated times and after school begins (see our Interscholastic Sports web page for a list of sports and the seasons).

Athletic Eligibility Requirements

A Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 is required to play Interscholastic Athletics.  Baseball and Softball GPA’s are based on the previous school years 4th 9 weeks grades. Incoming 6th graders have a “free pass” the 1st 9 weeks of each school year as always.

Interscholastic Sports are competitive teams that play other schools within Palm Beach County. Interscholastic Sports consists of a tryout period, a season schedule that lasts approximately 6 weeks and possibly time for playoffs. Students who wish to tryout must have the proper paperwork turned into the Athletic Director prior to the tryout dates. You can download the Athletic Eligibility Forms from the “Interscholastic Sports” page on the IMS website. Paperwork must be filled out completely in order to try out.

Intramurals - IMS sponsors a well balanced program of intramural competition for boys and girls.  The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for physical exercise, social interaction and wholesome fun.  Emphasis is placed on the enjoyment of the sport in a less competitive context.  This is a great time for your child to experience a new sport or enjoy a sport he/she is already familiar with.  Students do not compete against other schools.  Competition is between IMS students only.  It’s easy to get involved.  There is no paperwork, no tryouts, and no commitment.  Simply show up and play. Intramurals can be held before or after school depending on the sponsors schedule and availability of facilities.

Clubs - At IMS we offer a wide variety of clubs.  Joining a club is a great way to expand your educational and social horizons.  Clubs provide enrichment in theater, music, art, chess, math and writing, to name a few.   Meetings can be held before or after school and are year round.  Come join the fun, it’s easy to get involved.  There is no paperwork to fill out and you may participate in as few or as many sessions as your schedule will allow.
